Stormy Daniels breaks silence on Donald Trump's conviction & slams haters (2024)

STORMY Daniels has broken her silence on Donald Trump's guilty verdict in his historic hush money case, slamming critics who say she lied in her testimony.

The adult film star didn't mention Trump, 77, by name but claimed that his former lawyer Michael Cohen had something to do with a forged signature on a statement that denied her affair with the former president.

Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records regarding payments he had made to Daniels to keep her from going public about a brief, sexual encounter the two had more than a decade ago.

Daniels testified that she and Trump had unprotected sex in a Lake Tahoe hotel room while he was married to a then-pregnant Melania Trump.

However, several of Trump's supporters called out Daniels over a supposed statement that she signed denying the affair took place.

"Stormy told me Cohen forged her signature on her letter she denied sleeping with Trump," read a tweet responding to Daniels.

"They are both liars. This is reasonable doubt. Trump should be acquitted."

However, Daniels slammed back, "The problem with people with poor comprehension skills is they go online excited like Doc and I have to disappoint him like this," she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"I didn't tell you Cohen forged my signature. I said I didn't write it (I didn't) and to ask @MichaelCohen212 who did. It came out IN COURT that Keith Davidson drafted the letter at Cohen's request. Read it again and maybe you will grasp it. The only 'reasonable doubt' here is your reading skills."

Another person called Daniels "trash," to which Daniels responded, "Better than being convicted."

GUILTY VERDICT

On May 30, Trump was found guilty on all counts of falsifying business records, making him the first former US president to be convicted of a felony.

He blasted the verdict and continued to proclaim his innocence.

The Sun's Anthony Blair appears on Times Radio to talk the state of the US Election

"This was a disgrace,"Trump told reporters outside of the Manhattan courtroom.

"They wouldn't give us a venue change. We were at 5% or 6% in this district, in this area.

"This was a rigged, disgraceful trial, but the real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people, and they know what happened here; everybody knows what happened here," he added, referencing the upcoming presidential election.

"We didn't do a thing wrong. I'm a very innocent man and it's OK, I'm fighting for our country, I'm fighting for our constitution.

"Our whole country is being rigged right now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound and hurt a political opponent."

What are Donald Trump's next steps?

A jury in New York City has found Donald Trump guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide hush money he had paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.

The first former US President to be convicted of a felony but remains the Republican frontrunner in his bid for the White House against Joe Biden.

Trump's sentencing date is scheduled for July 11, 2024, however, his attorneys may try to push this until after the presidential election on November 5, which is unlikely to happen without good cause.

Trump, 77, is still allowed to speak to the press, travel outside the state, and continue his presidential campaign.

His guilty verdict also doesn't automatically make him a convicted felon.

The charges against Trump are Class E felonies, the least serious category in New York law with each count carrying a maximum four-year prison sentence.

Trump could also pay fines and restitution as part of his sentence or face probation.

Judge Juan Merchan said he is weighing several factors regarding Trump's sentence, including his age and lack of a criminal record, however, the former President's actions during the trial could also play a role in the judge's decision.

A guilty verdict doesn't prevent Trump from running for president.

The US Constitution requires that potential US presidents be:

  • Natural-born US citizens
  • At least 35 years old
  • Have lived in the country for at least 14 years

Felons are not barred from holding office.

Trump left immediately after the statement without taking any questions.

Within minutes of the guilty verdict, the Trump campaign's website featured a fundraising page claiming that he was a "political prisoner."

The page read, "I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG!

"They’ve raided my home, arrested me, took my mugshot, AND NOW THEY’VE JUST CONVICTED ME!"

Trump's sentencing is scheduled for July 11 at 10 am EST.

PRESIDENT BIDEN SPEAKS OUT

PresidentJoe Biden's campaign released a statement on the verdict saying no one is above the law.

"Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain,"the statement read.

"But today's verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality.

"There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box.

"Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.
