Middle River, MD — Orville Horton and his wife Frances are thrilled after winning a two-night getaway to St. Michaels through the Maryland Lottery’s My Lottery Rewards (MLR) promotion.
A 76-year-old devoted MLR member, Orville enjoys traveling across the country and recently embarked on an Alaskan cruise. Now, he’s ready for a new adventure closer to home after being selected as a winner of the St. Michaels trip in the July 3 drawing.
Orville, who retired from a furniture manufacturing company in 2011 but continues to work as a consultant, said he and Frances have often noticed road signs for St. Michaels during trips to the Eastern Shore but never visited the charming Talbot County town.
“I said to her, ‘We need to go to St. Michaels,'” Orville explained.
The prize includes a two-night stay at The Old Brick Inn in St. Michaels and a resort credit for dining and activities. Orville shares this win with Frederick County resident Suzette Mitchell, who was also selected as a winner.
A loyal MLR participant, Orville recalls earning enough points to purchase a TV from Westinghouse Electric Corporation years ago. “I have been playing since it started,” he said.
The MLR program, launched in 2013, allows players to enter non-winning scratch-offs, and winning and non-winning draw game and FAST PLAY tickets to earn points. These points can then be used to enter promotions for prizes such as vacations, tech packages, and gift cards.
