I have a Blaze King Princess Insert. Awesome stove and has worked great so far this yr. (1st Yr using this stove) I have a problem with the blower. When I shut the blower off when the fan is cool and then load the stove and get it back up to temp the fan doesn't work right. Meaning, when I turn the fan back on it doesn't blow on the low settings until I run it on high for a few minutes then all of a sudden it " kicks in" and blows like it should. Is there a problem with the fan or the reostat? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance Pete

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your question. But I saw your post and wanted to say that you've got a really neat stove there.

I was just over at a friend's house last night admiring his Blaze King insert. I knew he burned wood but hadn't been in his house to see his setup. That insert really throws great heat! The catalytic combined with the fan and his large brick hearth enable him to easily heat his large older house. When it was time to leave, it was hard to walk away from that great back warmer!

I have a BK with fans.
Different set-up but my fans won't kick on if the stove is cold. But that is just a temp switch
that supplies power to the rheostat & I can vary the speed anytime.
Sounds like a rheostat issue but could be a temp switch bypassing the rheostat
to run on high until the stove comes up to temp. Don't sound right but can you find a schematic of the wiring?
It may be something they wired into an insert to get lots of air moving on start-up.
Has it always operated like you describe?
If no, then it sure sounds like a dirty, worn rheostat or faulty.
My manual has a trouble shooting section, you may find something in the manual for your insert.

Knowing nothing about BK specifics, that could be dirty contacts in the rheostat. You could try buying a contact cleaner spray--Radio Shack or Best Buy might carry one, and trh that. Or just turn the rheostat knob a bunch of times and see if that cleans the contacts.

It sounds like an issue with the rheostat, but not being there in person this is just a guess. Your local dealer should be able to help, especially if it's still under warranty.

I'm a little confused. Are you saying the blower won't work when the thermostat is on the low setting, or with the blower knob at the low setting?

The stove has a snap disc switch that wont allow the blower to run at all when the stove is cold.

No, not the thermostat just the fan setting. If the stove is cold and I turn the fan on low it is barely moving any air. Once it is on for a while then the fan starts to blow harder. Even if the stove is a little warm the fan does the same thing. I am pretty sure that it didn't do this when new. Maybe a faulty Reostat or just dirty. Thanks. Pete

I think your OK with the fan, Its a new insert and its heating your house! The fan works but it has to heat up for a little while.

It does not have a manual override?

Blaze King Fan Problem ? (2024)

FAQs

Why is my pellet stove fan not kicking on? ›

Probable cause: The pellet vent is clogged. Either the motors are dirty or need replacing. If a blower requires replacing, ensure to identify which blower (convection – pushes heat into the home whereas combustion - pushes exhaust outside; or auger motor - feeds pellets into the burn pot).

Why is the fan on my stove not working? ›

When the fan on your range hood stops working, the two most common problems are a broken on and off switch and a burned out fan motor. Unless you feel secure in your repair skills, hiring a repairman to fix these issues may be your best option.

Why is my Blaze King smoking out the back? ›

Cracks or loose mortar can allow hot gases to reach the wood portion of the structure surrounding the chimney. These toxic gases may also re-enter the house through cracks and small holes in the chimney, or cause back-puffing which will result in excessive smoking.

Why has my log burner fan stopped working? ›

The secret is the thermoelectric motor. When the temperature difference between the base and the top of the wood stove fan, it generates a low voltage which makes the blades run. Therefore, if the voltage is too low to operate the fan, the wood stove fan will not work.

How long do stove fans last? ›

How long does a stove fan last? Your stove fan will last for years if you look after it. Mileage may vary, though, as cheaper models often overheat and stop working. To get the most out of your stove fan, use a thermometer to prevent overheating, and dust it once a month to keep it in tip-top shape.

What makes a stove fan work? ›

The Peltier device generates electricity by having one side hot and the other side cooler (known as a 'thermal difference'). This temperature difference creates a 'potential difference' (a voltage) in the circuit. This voltage powers the motor, which in turn drives the fan.

How much does it cost to replace an oven fan? ›

Repairing or replacing a fan costs $100 to $275. A failed fan can cause the oven or the control board to overheat. Other symptoms of a broken fan can be hot spots, the oven getting too hot, or the whole oven breaking down.

How do I contact Blaze King customer service? ›

If the dealer is unable to repair or replace the product to your satisfaction then contact Blaze King at 509-522-2730 in the USA or 250-493-7444 in Canada.

How does the Blaze King thermostat work? ›

Blaze King models feature a bimetal coil thermostat This simple thermostat evens out the uneven nature of burning wood. Blaze King owners typically only adjust their thermostats once or twice and day. Nearly all other wood stoves have a damper to regulate air-flow and require more frequent adjusting.

Can you run a fireplace without the fan? ›

A fireplace without a fan will still work safely and effectively utilizing radiant heat to warm up the room & home. During a power outage all wood and direct vent gas fireplaces, Inserts and stoves will continue to work safely producing radiant heat without the need for a fan.

What powers a log burner fan? ›

A log burner fan is driven by the heat produced when the stove is on and the thermoelectric energy conducted by the Peltier module. This means they are self-powered devices and therefore don't require batteries or an electric mains source to function. This helps you preserve energy and save money simultaneously.

How long does it take for the blower to come on on a pellet stove? ›

All the items you measured are not an issue, I have had pellet stoves in the past and the convection blower would usually start in about 5 to 8 minutes after the fire is fully ignited.

Does the fan run all the time on a pellet grill? ›

This depends on the grill. The fan on non-WiFIRE grills should run continuously. The fan on grills that have WiFIRE does cycle on and off during startup.

How to test pellet stove convection blower? ›

Plug the test wire into a power strip with the power switched off, then plug the power strip into the wall. Stabilize the convection blower and turn the surge protector on. The fan should spin with low noise and vibration.
